To have an internet connection on Concordia's network you must register your device's MAC address.

NoteYou can connect to CUNESecure before registering your device's MAC address; you just won't have an internet connection. Some phones (notably Android) may ask if you want to stay connected to CUNESecure despite not having an internet connection. You should select "connect anyway"/"stay connected" to that prompt.

Connecting to CUNESecure

Once your device is registered you can connect to the CUNESecure network with the following information:

  1. Connect to CUNESecure

  2. Enter the username and password for the network (This is NOT your personal username and password):

    Username/Identity: concordia
    Password: concordia

  3. Accept/Trust any security certificates if prompted

If that does not work please ensure that the following settings are correct, if available:

  • EAP method: PEAP

  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2

  • CA certificate: "Do not validate" or "Use system certificates"

  • Online Certificate Status: Do not validate

  • Domain: cune.edu

Troubleshooting

Additional Notes

  • We recommend using the CUNESecure network. Network traffic is encrypted on CUNESecure but is NOT encrypted on CUNE or CUNEGuest.

  • The CUNEGuest network is not intended for CUNE students, faculty, or staff. It is intended for occasional visitors. Devices registered for the CUNESecure/CUNE networks will not connect to the Guest network. CUNEGuest also has limited bandwidth, meaning that it is slower than CUNESecure and CUNE.

  • University owned equipment must use the CUNESecure network. It will not work on the CUNE or CUNEGuest network.

  • A username and password are required to use enterprise-level encryption (CUNESecure). This publicly shared username and password does not affect the security of the connection, and it doesn’t give access to anything other than a secure and encrypted connection. Each encrypted connection is unique to each device despite using the same username and password.

  • If you have any problems connecting, please let us know so that we may assist. There are a select few devices (TVs, smart home devices, etc.) that are unable to connect with the encryption that is used on this network. These devices may be able to connect to the CUNE network, but they may not work as they normally would on a personal home network.
